Started as wicket keeper batsman but later on decided to serve srilanka as a batsman only wasn't bad decision at all.Sanga just dominated this era like no one else it.Scored runs all over the world. Played 134 test matches for srilanka sangakkara scored 12400 runs at an average of 57.40 with 38 hundreds 11 double and triple hundred to his name. His best innings cane against southafrica when he scored 287 in a record breaking partnership with mahela Jayawardena.
Brian Lara:
16 December 1990 the world cricket took to storm when a left handed batsman from Trinidad and tabago named brian Charles lara made his debut for westindies. It is still a never ending debate for the cricket historians that who is the best left handed batsman to hold a cricket Sir Garfield sobers or brian lara. Brian lara has always considered sobers as his idol..though in 1993 brian lara broke the record of Gary sobers of most runs in test inning 365 by scoring 375 against England.In 2003 Matthew hayden broke Brian's record of 375 by scoring 380 but it took lara an year to once again achieve the milestone of scoring most runs in a test inning by scoring 400 notout against England.. Played 131 test matches for westindies brian scored 11953 runs with an average of 52.53 and 34 centuries 9 double hundreds 1 triple hundred and a 400 to his name. His 153 notout against Australia at Bridgestone Barbados in 1999 has been rated by Wisden as the second best batting performance in the history of test cricket next only to the 270 runs scored by Don bradman in ashes test match in 1937.
