It was absolutely a world class and a brilliant start to the game. Manchester City completely dominated the game in the first half; loved the way, they played in the initial 45 minutes. But a goal from Zlatan Ibrahimovic was a gift from Manchester City.
Apart from the blunder that resulted into the goal, Claudio Bravo played well. It is too early to predict him. People were commenting and criticizing for Pep's decision of Hart transfer for Claudio Bravo and were declaring him as the worst goal keeper but may be he was nervous, it was his debut and afterall it was a derby. We should give him time to gel with his new club's mates. There may be a communication problem that would resolve by the time. Fans should be patient rather than degrading him. He needs time and he will prove his transfer as the good decision of his manager. It was a mistake by him and Stones too. But on the positive note, he contributed too in that 2 goals.
In post match ceremony, Pep said that,
“"Bravo did well, it’s not a mistake."
Although he want to appreciate him as it was his first game at Manchester City.
So overall it was a good and balance performance by the team. Sagna was good but he lacked pace. Nicolas Otamendi should improve. Kelechi Iheanacho proving himself as a good player. He played well, scored goal and assisted for De Bruyne. I think he is underrated by the fans. Fernandinho was simply best. Sterling was fast but he needs to focus on his game more, otherwise he will be replaced. De Brunye played very well. Nolito has shown great speed. Sane, too early to judge him but a good debut.
Pep is tactical and genius. He is different and intelligent. But on the other hand, Manchester City missed their vital player Sergio Kun Aguero because he received a three day ban from FA. A statement released by the FA on Tuesday said: “Sergio Agüero has been charged for an alleged act of violent conduct which was not seen by the match officials but caught on video. He has until 6pm on Wednesday 31 August to reply. Off the ball incidents which are not seen at the time by the match officials are referred to a panel of three former elite match officials. Each panel member will review the video footage independently of one another to determine whether they consider it a sending-off offence. For retrospective action to be taken, and an FA charge to follow, the decision of the panel must be unanimous.”
The loss of such a vital player to Manchester City for the Manchester derby was a huge setback for manager Pep Guardiola and a boost to Manchester United. Even though Aguero, Kompany,
Gundogon and Yaya were not there but still Manchester City managed to win the game. They said that City can't, without Aguero but they sealed the victory. If Aguero was there, Manchester City would have scored more goals. It should be 2-0 but no problem.
Manchester United defense was very poor. Pep on Zlatan,
‘’He has had a big impact in what he did everywhere and he is amazing, amazing talent, especially on the pitch.’’
Jose Mourinho blamed himself after watching his Manchester United side lose 2-1 to rivals Manchester City in the derby. United manager Mourinho admitted City were "much better". Mourinho said the Citizens were superior on the day.
"It’s my fault, because I am the manager and the team decision was my choice. They were much better than us. We started the game badly. Below the normal level. This is football. Sometimes players disappoint managers, sometimes they give us great surprises."
Whereas Pep said that,
"Big compliment for the performance, especially how we played in the first-half. Until now in the Premier League it has been okay, but to compete against the best clubs in Europe, in this moment with the way we are playing, we are not able to. We have played, not all of the games, but part of most of the games at a high level, and of course we have to continue. If you ask me whether we are ready to compete in Europe, we are not ready. We create, but in front we need more. But it is just two months together, so we have time to get better. We have had a little bit of a problem in the last few games with the last pass – we make the movements, but the last pass… especially in the second half when Manchester United pushed a lot. There was the chance to make counter attacks, and we had many. But, except for one or two from Kevin De Bruyne, we didn’t finish. If you don’t finish those actions you are going to suffer until the end. We were lucky – maybe one day we will not be lucky.”
Overall it was best and great, we need such performances or better than this one.
