Interview with Imad Wasim
Like many contemplating players from Pakistan, the 27-year-old Imad Wasim wanted to emulate Wasim Akram but the bloke lacked pace, hence switching to left-arm spin. This switch did wonders as he proved his worth by replacing Saeed Ajmal in 2015 for the national team.
The Welsh-born Imad Wasim is also a competent middle order batsman who has an impressive first class average of 41.91.
Here is the interview conducted with him
GREEN TEAM: In first class you have scored a double century and have an average of
42 and Pakistan badly needs an allrounder in test, do you think you have a chance
in the current batting line up?
IMAD WASIM: Oh yes obviously..
I think I can be a player who can win with both bat and ball. I'm working really hard on my batting as well.. Whatever position my team and captain wants me to bat ill try to perform well for my country.
GREEN TEAM: How was your experience being a captain in U19 wc? You're more comfortable as a captain or as a regular member of the team?
IMAD WASIM: Well I captained pak 19 plus grade 2 team and the first class team
And i am playing in pak as a member
Both of the time i loved and enjoyed my cricket
GREEN TEAM: Who are the all rounders you grew up admiring?
IMAD WASIM: Wasim Akram was the one who I admired
GREEN TEAM: During world t20 you missed a match against India, as it is our rival team, do you have any regret for not taking part in that match?
IMAD WASIM: It was the team decision and i have no regrets
I am waiting for that day on which we beat India in the world cup match and end this winning streak of india over us through my performance.
GREEN TEAM: Pakistan for 20 years in ODi mainly had Afridi at n7,
now since his retirement you are mainly playing in his position,
do you think you can fill well his spot with some aggressive knocks
sometime and sensible sometime unlike Afridi?
IMAD WASIM: Well he is a world class player and he gave so much to Pakistan
Well i want to make a name for myself so it doesnt matter what position i am in the team as long as i give my 100 % and express myself to the world that what i am capable of
I always wanted to be the best and i ill try not to disappoint any of my fans
GREEN TEAM: Just on a lighter side, there was an indian news paper who shared an article about you in which they were praising your looks, I think you might have seen that, how were you feeling?
IMAD WASIM: Yes i saw that, well its kind of them to write and praise me, what i think is that everyone on the planet earth is good looking because Allah created us so we all are the same
GREEN TEAM: Imad we now have a new coach, how do you see Mickey as a coach?
IMAD WASIM: Worked with him while I was playing for Karachi Kings.
He is a wonderful human being and a great coach
Wish him all the best for his new job as a head coach
GREEN TEAM: Pakistan is all set to take on England and Muhammad Amir is back in the test side. What can be Amir's impact in the team?
IMAD WASIM: He is a world class bowler and I am sure that he'll prove it in England
You need players like Amir in your team as he is a match winner on his own
GREEN TEAM: Thank you for your time Imad.
Wishing you a very good luck for your future! Stay blessed.
